the Project

EnviCOP (Environmentally Friendly Coastal Protection in a Changing Climate) is funded by 7th Framework Programme of the EU under the People Programme in the research area Marie Curie Action "International Research Staff Exchange Scheme" - FP7-PEOPLE-2011-IRSES. Participants to join efforts within EnviCOP project:

  • SECONDA UNIVERSITÀ DEGLI STUDI DI NAPOLI, Italy
  • UNIVERSITA POLITECNICA DELLE MARCHE, Italy
  • POLITECNICO DI MILANO, Italy

  • UNIVERSITY OF VALE DO ITAJAÍ, Brazil

The EnviCOP project aims to:

  • Strengthen research partnerships between the above organizations, primarily through short period staff exchanges Early stage and Experienced researchers, focusing the research activities on advanced numerical and physical models tools to forecast short- and long-term phenomena with respect to coastal protection in a changing climate.
  • Provide improved process understanding, new knowledge, improved numerical and physical model tools, resulting in introducing new and improved environmentally friendly coastal protection structures.
  • Serve finally decision makers in strengthening emergency planning arrangements, improving co-ordination of coastal erosion and surface water flood risk; managing the investment of significant levels of public funding, and helping coastal communities adapt to climate change.
